According to Plato this world is indeed a living being endowed with a soul and intelligence. . . a single visible living entity containing all other living entities, which by their nature are all related. It has been held by most ancient civilizations and spiritual structures that the universe is pervaded by a dominant consciousness through its expanse. Incidentally this understanding prevailed across cultures of yore. Hinduism has been by far the most categorical about this phenomenon based, not on blind faith, but concrete, logical, deductive, rationalization. This is evident from the scriptures and detailed treatises like the Tarkshastras, Darshanas, Srutis, Smritis, Vedas, Upnishads, and many more. This was also later corroborated, albeit in a separate context, by Greek philosophers; Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle.
In relatively modern times philosophers like Arthur Schopenhauer, Josiah Royce, William James, Eduard von Hartmann, FCS Schiller, Ernst Haeckel and William Clifford as well as psychologists like Gustav Fechner, Wilhelm Wundt and Rudolf Hermann Lotze, promoted the predominance of a universal consciousness.
This omni prevalence of consciousness is also called as "panpsychism". The term has its origins in the Greek word "pan", meaning "through" and "psyche", meaning "soul" as the unifying center of the mental life of us humans and other living creatures. Accordingly, it is deducted that every particle in the universe contains consciousness. Merely because you can not perceive it, it does not aggravate it's non existence. There is consciousness at every level in the material, and non-material world. Interestingly there is a very sacred Hindu mantra (chant) called the Mahamrintujya Mantra. This powerful chant is essentially meant for enhancing longevity, yet it also gives some light on consciousness. It impeaches the Infinite Intelligence to lift the living being out of darkness into profit understanding; one that transcends the five senses, related to the gross body. It underscores the presence of a higher intelligence which is not fettered by the limited sensory inputs being assimilated by the brain.
David Joseph Bohm, an American scientist, is recognized for plasma and particle physics. He is also considered to be one of the most significant physicists of the 20th century who contributed innovative and unorthodox ideas to quantum theory, philosophy of mind, and neuropsychology. Bohm views physical processes as determined by information of increasingly interactive sub levels. Moreover he does not limit this consideration to matter alone. In an article in 1990, A New Theory Of The Relationship Of Mind And Matter , he supports a close link to mental processes: "The whole notice of active information suggests a rudimentary mind-like behavior of matter ". In his view, mental processes are arrayed in tiers of increasing subtlety which act upon each other. He postulated that thought is connected with physical reactions, as is known from everyday experience. However at the mental level, action and information may, or may not, be immediately linked. In some cases it can even be altered by "suspension" of physical action and the resulting stream of thoughts.
Consciousness In matter
The old Cartesian model of reality said that there were two interacting kinds of substance – mental and physical. In the light of developments in quantum physics, Bohm debunked this view because this model was inherently limited. He believed that in some sense a rudimentary mind-like quality is present even at the level of particle physics. As we enter subtler levels this mind-like quality becomes stronger and more developed.
To this expanded Bohm developed a detailed mathematical and physical theory and advanced the view that the brain, at the cellular level, obeyed the mathematics of significant quantum effects, and postulated that thought itself was distributed and non-localized. This also shows that thought pervades the universe. Bohm emphasized caution in depending exclusively on reason and technology for explanation of varied phenomena. Instead he advocated the need for authentic, supportive dialogue to unify conflict in the social context.
Particles Possessing Intelligence
Recent scientific research underlines the significance of "the observer-expectancy effect" . This is also interchangeably called the experimenter-expectancy effect , expectation bias , observer effect, or experiment effect . This is a form of reactivity in which a researcher's cognitive bias causes them to unconsciously influence the subject of an experiment. Not surprisingly further studies have confirmed the view by even extending the effect to inanimate particles. Simply stated it means that the object of scientific study is influenced by the observer studying it!
Here is an excerpt from Dapla. org about this experiment . "In some strange way an electron or a photon [or any other elementary particle] seems to 'know' about changes in the environment and responds to respond accordingly," says physicist Danah Zohar. A group at the Weizmann Institute in Israel has done a variation of the famous "double-slit" experiment. They used electrons, instead of photons, and observed how the resultant interference pattern (which indicates waves-like properties of the particle) dissipated the longer you watched the electrons go through the slits. As a wave the electron passes through both slits simultaneously but if, according to E Buks, it "senses" that it is being watched, the electron (as a particle) goes through only one path, diminishing the interference pattern. Elementary particles (such as photons and electrons) appear to possess a certain degree of "intelligence" and awareness of the environment.
Psychokinesis: Mind- Matter Relationship
Psychokinesis is the psychic ability to move objects through conscious application of mental power, The word, Psychokinesis, is derived from Greek "psyche", meaning mind, soul, spirit, or breath; and "kinesis", meaning motion, movement. It was coined in 1914 by American author Henry Holt in his book On The Cosmic Relations . The term was later adopted by the pioneer American parapsychologist, Dr. Joseph Banks Rhine, in 1934. Dr. Rhine initially conducted research on Psycho kinesis by conducting experiments to determine if a person could influence the outcome of falling dice. Today this term is also interchangeably used with "telekinesis" (distant motion through mental influence). Since then the science and practice of psycho kinesis can be said to further the view that there is a definite connection between mind and matter. Matter possesses its own consciousness, and therefore the influence of human consciousness reinforces the result of this interaction ie; between mind and matter.
For those who are reading about psycho kinesis for the first time this phenomenon may appear pretty implausible, if not incredible. To "soften" the tendency to disbelieve, certainly some historical proof is in order. Here we take a look at some interesting events in history; few out of umpteen of course.
Angelique Cottin in the 1800s was known as the "Electric Girl of France". Cottin could produce electric energy from her body, and thenby move pieces of furniture and scissors across the length of a room.
In the early 20th century the Polish medium Stanislawa Tomczyk was known to perform telekinesis, by levitating objects. A 1909 photo shows a pair of scissors floating in between her hands. Literature on telekinesis often displays this image of Stanislawa Tomczyk.
Annemarie Schaberl a 19-year old secretary, in the 1960s. was recorded to show telekinetic powers by the parapsychologist Hans Bender.
The Menninger Foundation (USA ) studied Swami Rama, a yogi in 1970. He had the ability to control his heart functions, and observers at the foundation saw him telekinetically moving a knitting needle twice from a distance of five feet.
In more modern times, the Israeli psychic, Uri Geller displayed various feats of psychokinesis. Geller was famous primarily for his power to bend spoons, and in repairing clocks through telekinesis. Spoon bending later became an almost fashion rage in the 80s; and masses of university students would routinely organize foam-bending parties.
Uri Geller's wife, Nina Kulagina was equally telekinetic. A psychokinesis documentary was made on her in 1967. She was known to change trajectories of objects in motion. In one experiment she slowed down, and sped up a dead and separated frog heart. She displayed feats like moving matches across a table, and levitating a ping-pong balls.
What Psychokinesis Involves
The novice is advised to concentrate, focus, meditate, relax, and believe in the plausibility of the event. That is because the human mind is almost hardwired to reject outrightly anything occurring beyond its known domain of phenomena. Then there must be a resolve to do it. This power does not necessarily manifest instantaneously. Like all accomplishment, it presupposes a finite gestation period, provided the psychic is persistent. A psychokinetic student needs to reinstate his or her concentration the most. Focusing, and concentrating vision on a specific spot is a useful exercise. Fucusing on pendulums, visualizing the psychokinesis event repeatedly, are also some recommended methods. A regular practice and training time set aside, for consistent progress pays dividends as well. Utmost emphasis is on faith.
Richard Bach in his famous book Illusions shows how the protagonist of the story achieves a feat of psychokinesis. He has been concentrating on moving a spanner (part of the toolkit for his biplane aircraft) for a number of days, to no avail. However, one day when he's not bothered with it, the spanner decides to start floating in mid air on its own! Of course that's just an incident in the story. In real life telekinesis merits diligent attention and perseverance.
Panpsychism, or the universal presence of consciousness is known to all civilizations across cultures. This includes ancient philosophies of the Hindus, the Greeks and many others. Modern day quantum physics has been increasingly tilting towards a holistic explanation of natural phenomenon, including consciousness, and also the relationship between mind and matter. Physicist David Bohm and others advise the scientific community to be guarded about being too rigid in reasoning and technical in their approach. Lately psychokinesis has emerged as an enigmatic parapsychology phenomenon, for explaining which studies are still underway. Yet connecting evidences like the "observer effect", and the likelihood of "particle intelligence" subtly point to a universal link between animate and inanimate consciousness. With an open mind, it is possible to employ the spectrum of psychokinetic phenomena to serve as a bridge between the yawning gap between holistic and purely scientific explanations of consciousness.Immobilienmakler Heidelberg Makler Heidelberg
